EU Data Act Addendum

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 12, 2025

This Addendum describes how you may access and share data generated by your use of connected Wahoo products and services in accordance with the EU Data Act. It applies to users, businesses, and other entities located in the European Union. This Addendum supplements our Privacy Policy and does not replace it.

1. Products and Services in Scope

The EU Data Act applies to connected Wahoo products and related services. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • GPS Bike Computers
  • Smart Bikes
  • Bike Trainers
  • Treadmills
  • Cycling Sensors
  • Heart Rate Monitors
  • Bike Pedals
  • Wahoo Apps
  • Any other Wahoo products and related services capable of generating data

2. Information about Data

Wahoo products and services are capable of generating the following types of data:

  • Workout and activity data
  • Device performance data
  • System and usage data

Data is generated continuously and in real time. The data is stored on a remote, secure cloud server. GPS bike computers have the ability to store some data on the device. Data storage arrangements and retention periods are outlined in our Privacy Policy. To find out how Wahoo and third parties use and process your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Wahoo holds trade secrets and other intellectual property rights in certain data.

3. Data Format and Volume

Data is provided in structured, commonly used formats such as .FIT, .CSV, or .JSON. A typical user data file ranges from 100 KB to 450 KB in size. Historical data may have limits based on storage or device availability.

4. Your EU Data Act Rights and Request Process

As an EU user, business, or other entity, you have the right to:

Wahoo may require additional information and may decline the request for reasons permitted under the Data Act.
Requests are processed within a reasonable time. Access requests are provided free of charge. For other types of requests that are not covered by this section, email privacy@wahoofitness.com.

Explanation of Withheld Data

Wahoo may restrict or prohibit access to data if it is a trade secret, if it could undermine the security requirements of the product resulting in a serious adverse effect on a person’s health, safety, or security, if we are unable to reach agreement on or you fail to implement the necessary measures to preserve confidentiality, or for other reasons permitted under the Data Act. We will provide you and the competent authority a written substantiation of our decision to withhold or suspend the sharing of data.

5. Interaction with Other Rights

  • Personal Data remains subject to the Privacy Policy and is handled under the GDPR.
  • Device-generated data is handled under this EU Data Act Addendum.
  • Your EU Data Act rights supplement, but do not replace, your existing rights under the Privacy Policy.

6. Right to Complain

EU users, businesses, and other entities have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant competent authority in the Member State where they have their habitual residence, place of work or establishment if they consider that their rights under the Data Act have been infringed.
