1New KICKR Power Trainer is rated out of 5 by 233.Rated 3 out of 5 by wet3rd from Good overall. Poor Ergo Mode Two issues. Other than them, it's excellent. First, the weight. However, that's understandable given the ergo features and lack of noise. Second, the ergo mode is inconsistent and displayed power is skewed significantly higher than my powermeter (Quarq Elsa R). There are times during an interval block where the resistance will dramatically increase on its own. This tends to happen at the end of intervals. Given the price, it is not acceptable as the major reason for the extra expense is the ability to use as an Ergometer or Smart trainer.Date published: 2015-09-20Rated 5 out of 5 by TheFog900 from Who knew you could like riding your trainer? Like so many others I dreaded riding on my trainer. It's boring and dreary, it was hard to stay focused. I had seen the Kickr on my LBS and read some reviews, I was intrigued and eventually bought one in early 2015. I thought I would most enjoy the simulated routes but I was wrong. What I love most is the ERG mode to control my power. If my workout is set to 10% over/unders that is what I'm doing. If my intervals including 150% FTP sprints, they get done. You can't cheat or quit early. I now find myself on my trainer when it's actually sunny outside because I need a "real" workout. I never thought that would happen.Date published: 2015-09-18Rated 5 out of 5 by bbalak from Awesome pairing with Zwift and TrainerRoad The Kickr is a great training tool. I was hesitant at first to purchase one, but having the ability to split up the payments made it very affordable. If you pair it up with Zwift or TrainerRoad, it is an incredible trainer. One thing to keep in mind for Garmin Vector owners - If you pair the Kickr's power meter and shut off the Vector to your ANT+ receiver, you're also shutting off your cadence meter as well. I ordered the 10 speed version because it was cheaper, and I had a spare 11 speed cassette. If you want cadance in your workout, you'll need a separate cadence sensor. The 11 speed version comes with the RPM cadence sensor.Date published: 2015-09-25Rated 5 out of 5 by mspeas from Good Trainer Bought one in early September and sold my Computrainer. Works quite well as power readings seem accurate. Easy set up and a variety of apps. My favorite is Ergvideo. Folks speak about Sufferfest, but EV beats it hands down with far longer workouts. Need that to simulate real outdoor rides. Kickr has a good "road feel". It is not identical to outdoors, but close since it carries momentum well to simulate downhills. Now if they would release the Elemnt so I can control it via ANT+ FE/C. Desperately needs to a handlebar unit. Coming off a CT that is the only advantage of Computrainers. They come with a good control module.Date published: 2015-11-10Rated 5 out of 5 by DJ Wright from Finally a realistic indoor option After a few winters with a "classic trainer" the Kickr changes everything indoors. I used to hate trainer time, 30 min was like a death sentence and I really never got anything done for my perceived efforts. The Kickr w/ Zwift or BKool makes indoor riding feel like outdoors. I have recently "virtually" climbed Whiteface Mountain @ Lake Placid, NY Avg slope 9% and it felt like it for the entire hour it took me to complete the climb(1st/2nd gear standing climb). I then accepted the "More Than Sports + Kona" 112 mile challenge on Zwift. It felt like a Century+ ride not just hours of spinning on end like a classic trainer feels. All in All I couldn't be more pleased.Date published: 2015-10-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Jackfrost from Fun to be inside for once I have been a cyclist for over 40 years. I'm aware of the value of indoor training and have owned other trainers in the past. Never once have I actually enjoyed indoor training. However the Kicker power trainer with its blue tooth capabilities, along with the fact that I don't have to burn through tires anymore has totally changed the game for me. I've had this thing for about 2 months and have used it more in that time than I've used any trainer in the last couple of years. Normally a bit pricey, I got a great deal, which is why I pulled the trigger and purchased one. Out side of bike purchases, this has been my best decision.Date published: 2016-12-17Rated 1 out of 5 by MTBBill from KICKR - Works great, WHEN IT WORKS The Kickr is a great trainer, unfortunately it is very unreliable. Mine has failed twice. The first time they shipped me a new part which I replaced and it worked for a week. It failed again and now I have to ship it back and be without the trainer for weeks during the middle of winter. It is not easy to drop $1200 on a trainer. It is awful when you do and the thing keeps breaking and blows your winter training program.Date published: 2016-01-04Rated 5 out of 5 by Bernie from kickr and zwift a few months ago I was at a race and talking with some friends the topic of zwift came up, I googled it upon my return home and consequently I bought a kickr, I've been very very happy with the combination of the kickr and zwift. Zwift controls the resistance on the kickr according to the terrain on the zwift course. It's really an unbeatable combination in my mind, I can't train much outside for personal reasons so I ride upwards of 10-12 hours per week inside. It wouldn't be mentally doable w/o the kickr and zwift. The kickr is really solid and weighs quite a bit so it doesn't move around during sprints, a real road like feel indoors. Zero issues with hardware/software, it just works.Date published: 2015-09-18
