Sure, we’ve all taken a tumble down a particularly technical stretch of mountain biking trail. Maybe even gotten our clips stuck on a road bike and toppled over. But falling on a run? Seems less likely. Au contraire, my friends. After admitting to a hugely embarrassing fall I recently took while running, I discovered that 3 of my fellow Wahoo Crew members have also fallen on a run. Here’s their
excusesstories so I’m not the only embarrassed one:
Wahoo Mike was trail running. That kind of thing happens. He claims he stepped on a root under a pile of leaves and lost his balance. A likely story.
Wahoo Christian was out for an 8-miler one afternoon and arrived back to the office a little worse for the wear. While dodging a stroller he caught the edge of the curb and rolled his ankle. And took a tumble.
Wahoo Chip was running at some ungodly hour of the morning (4:00am?!) without a headlamp and failed to see the approaching speed bump. He likes to hold his iPhone in his hand, but luckily he keeps it in a Wahoo Bike Case for protection. He hit the ground hard and caught himself with his hands, slamming the bike case into the ground with all his body weight. (We told you we personally test all our products!) His iPhone came out unscathed- can’t say as much for Wahoo Chip.
And I have the best story of all. No excuses. I was in California on a business trip, just cruising along Santa Monica Boulevard, rocking out to some tunes and going a little too fast. Next thing I knew I was on the ground, a bloody mess. I’m actually really lucky I didn’t end up with gravel embedded in my face.
But despite our bumps and bruises, we all got back on the horse. That’s the great thing about running. You take what the run will give you- you get nothing more, nothing less. Some days you feel like superman and other days you come home bloody and bruised, but it’s all for the love of the run.
