What is it?
  • Your Wahoo Fitness Blue HR Heart Rate Strap is a device worn in proximity to the heart that gathers electrical activity data to derive your heart beats per minute.

How do I use it?
  1. Thoroughly wet both electrodes on the Strap with water or electrode gel. It is important that the electrodes are sufficiently moist so that a good skin-toelectrode connection is made.
  2. Snap one end of the Strap to one side of the Pod. Either end of the Strap can connect to either end of the Pod, but the Pod should have the Wahoo Fitness logo facing up when in use.
  3. Wrap the Strap around your back and snap the free end to the free side of the Pod so that the Pod is located on your breastplate, just below your breasts. Adjust the Strap to create a snug, yet comfortable fit.
  4. Once in place, move within 5’ - 10’ of any device that receives Bluetooth Smart wireless data, such as the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.

How do I pair my Blue HR using the Wahoo Fitness App?
  1. Open the Wahoo Fitness App
  2. Tap the wrench icon in the top right for settings
  3. Choose Workout Settings
  4. Select the Workout Type
  5. Choose Add Sensor
  6. Select HR
  7. It should start searching for the HR. You might also see the BT logo flash.
  8. Click Save in the top right

It won't connect! What do I do?
  • If you do not get a reading, or the readings are erroneous, ensure that the electrodes are wet, have good contact with your skin and the that your Heart Rate Sensor is sufficiently snug. Your Heart Rate Sensor ‘sleeps’ with inactivity and ‘awakens’ with good electical contact. A brief physical warm up may be required.

How do I pair it with my device?
  • Each Sensor has a unique identification code and can be uniquely paried with a display device or reader so that it will always be recognized when it is activated and within range. Since each reader is unique, you should reference the instructions of your reader for pairing techniques.
  • Make sure the Bluetooth setting on your device is turned on and that you have latest version of your favorite compatible app.
  • Pair the heart rate strap in the app, not in Bluetooth settings.  In the wahoo app, it is under quick settings and then either pair new sensor (if you don't have a paired hr strap yet) or heart rate. You can pair the strap there.

How do I change the battery?
  • The battery is located behind a cover on the back of your Heart Rate Sensor Pod and can be replaced by placing a coin in the slot and turning the cover 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Replace with a 3 volt CR2032 battery (contact a local waste handling group for proper disposal of old battery).

I was lucky enough to win one of these at a running event. After using it for 6+ months I don't think I can work out without it! I love the heart rate "time in zone" so that I can gauge whether I should speed up or slow down. This data is not sent to Runkeeper, which is just the random app I use to log my exercise, so I won't diss it for not being able to see that data once saved...I haven't explored other apps to see if they track it. But it is a solid product and works very reliably. Have you ever ended up with extra miles because the GPS fritzed somewhere along your route? Tracking through Wahoo GPS is much more reliable than used through the Runkeeper app directly. I love that! It is so simple and so useful. Well worth the price even if I had paid for it! Update; January 28, 2013: I have used the Blue HR heart rate monitor daily since I got it. The past couple of weeks I seemingly have not been able to get my heart rate up to the correct zone. When I completed my second minute of HIIT jumping jacks and my heart rate was still 80-something, I knew something was up. A battery change made all the difference. Wanted to put that piece of info out there for others who may be working harder than they should due to the battery. Still loving my Blue HR.

I LOVE my wahoo fitness chest strap. I use the iBiker app and am very pleased with the ease of use of this chest strap. The data/graphs are awesome and very motivating. It makes going to the gym even more fun! The only downside is that my chest (43 inches) is the max for the chest strap. Any bigger and it would not fit or it would be very tight.

Worried I might not be able to listen to my LG HBS-700 Bluetooth headphones when I used HR monitor. WORKED LIKE A CHARM. Integrated with zero change in headset performance. I love being able to see the route I took, time, and HR stats. I just need to find an app that will show HR logs with points on the route. I had no interest in getting the cadence sensor but now I can't wait to have that data too. Looks like the GPS on my phone got a touch confused at one point. (See pic.) If you're a data junkie ya gotta get this.
