Wahoo Fitness Blue HR heart rate strap is the world's first Bluetooth Smart heart rate strap made for the iPhone 4S (and other Bluetooth Smart Ready devices). This heart rate strap and App combination transforms your iPhone into an all-in-one training device, great for runners, cyclists, and other fitness enthusiasts. The Wahoo Fitness Blue HR heart rate strap connects wirelessly to the iPhone 4S without the need for any adapters and delivers accurate real-time heart rate data through the free Wahoo Fitness App. Additionally, our open API allows other popular Apps, such as RunKeeper, MapMyRide, 321Run, Cyclemeter and endomondo to work with the Blue HR. With the Wahoo Blue HR and your favorite fitness App, you now have your heart rate data, your playlists, your phone, GPS maps and more-- all in one device!

This device will not work with the iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4.

What is it?
  • Your Wahoo Fitness Blue HR Heart Rate Strap is a device worn in proximity to the heart that gathers electrical activity data to derive your heart beats per minute.

How do I use it?
  • Thoroughly wet both electrodes on the Strap with water or electrode gel. It is important that the electrodes are sufficiently moist so that a good skin-toelectrode connection is made.
  • Snap one end of the Strap to one side of the Pod. Either end of the Strap can connect to either end of the Pod, but the Pod should have the Wahoo Fitness logo facing up when in use.
  • Wrap the Strap around your back and snap the free end to the free side of the Pod so that the Pod is located on your breastplate, just below your breasts. Adjust the Strap to create a snug, yet comfortable fit.
  • Once in place, move within 5’ - 10’ of any device that receives Bluetooth Smart wireless data, such as the iPhone 4S.

It won't connect! What do I do?
  • If you do not get a reading, or the readings are erroneous, ensure that the electrodes are wet, have good contact with your skin and the that your Heart Rate Sensor is sufficiently snug. Your Heart Rate Sensor ‘sleeps’ with inactivity and ‘awakens’ with good electical contact. A brief physical warm up may be required.
How do I pair it with my device?
  • Each Sensor has a unique identification code and can be uniquely paried with a display device or reader so that it will always be recognized when it is activated and within range. Since each reader is unique, you should reference the instructions of your reader for pairing techniques.
  • Make sure the Bluetooth setting on your device is turned on and that you have latest version of your favorite compatible app.
  • Pair the heart rate strap in the app, not in Bluetooth settings.  In the wahoo app, it is under quick settings and then either pair new sensor (if you don't have a paired hr strap yet) or heart rate. You can pair the strap there.

How do I change the battery?
  • The battery is located behind a cover on the back of your Heart Rate Sensor Pod and can be replaced by placing a coin in the slot and turning the cover 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Replace with a 3 volt CR2032 battery (contact a local waste handling group for proper disposal of old battery).

I have used two other heart rate monitors in the past and the Wahoo Fitness Wahoo Blue HR Heart Rate Strap for iPhone 4S is the easiest and lightest yet. Received it on Saturday after I did my run so I had to add a ride on Sunday to check it out. The device is light, easy to assemble and relatively comfortable to wear. I use Endomondo and it quickly linked and began tracking my heart rate. i rode 6 miles and it continually monitored my heart rate without a problem. Endomondo captured all the readings and displayed them on my online record. Over the next few weeks I plan to train at my target heartrate instead of pace or distance to see if there are improvements. Get addition to my running and cycling training plans. Another important dimension. Recommend it hightly. Chuck Lanza on Endomondo

I have been running for 30+ years for recreation & fitness. I have always carried music & a timepiece.Combined with a new iphone 4s and the Runmeter app, the Blue HR has added a new dimension of fun & info to my workouts. The monitor works seamlessly with the app, which I can program to give me audible announcements of my heart rate & max heart rate on demand (I use an iphone remote control adapter between my favorite wired headphones and the iphone on an armband-no need to fumble with iphone & try to see display in glaring Nevada sun!) After a heart attack ten years ago, this is the perfect addition in monitoring my cardio activity while running/working out. I highly recommend it whether a weekend warrior or triathlete!(I'm so pleased that I'm actually smiling while writing this!)

I love this product. I didn't quite understand that you set up the heart ratemonitor in RunKeeper and not the standard iPhone Bluetooth set-up at once. But once configured it works great. I've only tested it with RunKeeper, but so far so good. Now I want a watch/display that I can wear that will work with the iPhone and BlueHR to display my HR etc while excersising. This way I can leave the iPhone in the rucksack. :)
